Eco Climate Badge is Now Live on Booking.com

A Milestone in Our Journey Toward Sustainable Tourism in Bali

Eco Tourism Bali is proud to announce that the Eco Climate Badge is now officially live on Booking.com. Certified properties are now included under the “Sustainability Certification” filter on both the Booking.com website and mobile application, increasing visibility to global travelers who prioritize responsible accommodation choices.

This milestone marks an important step forward not only for certified properties, but for the broader sustainable tourism movement in Bali.

A Journey Built on Collaboration

Since its legal establishment in 2021, Eco Tourism Bali has worked to build a structured ecosystem for sustainable tourism. From launching Sustainability Guidelines for Hotels (2022) and Restaurants (2023), to organizing Eco Tourism Week and environmental actions such as mangrove and coral planting, each year has strengthened the foundation of responsible tourism in Bali.

Our journey with Booking.com has been an important part of this progress.

In 2024, Eco Tourism Bali collaborated with Booking.com on environmental initiatives, including a turtle release program alongside Jumeirah Bali. This partnership expanded further in 2025 through collaboration with Booking.com Cares, reinforcing shared commitments toward regenerative and responsible tourism practices.

That same year, Eco Tourism Bali and Booking.com became signatories of the UNWTO Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, demonstrating a joint commitment to reducing plastic waste within the tourism industry.

Today, the visibility of the Eco Climate Badge on Booking.com reflects the evolution of that collaboration from shared environmental actions to structured sustainability recognition within a global booking platform.

From Action to System

Over the years, Eco Tourism Bali has moved from awareness-driven initiatives to building measurable systems:

  • Launch of Eco Climate Badge in 2024
  • Introduction of the Sustainability Procurement Guideline (SPG) in 2025
  • Expansion of structured Sustainability Training Programs
  • Continued regenerative programs including mangrove planting and coral restoration

The inclusion of Eco Climate Badge on Booking.com strengthens this ecosystem by ensuring that sustainability efforts are not only implemented but also recognized internationally.

Looking Ahead

This achievement represents more than a technical listing. It reflects the collective effort of hotels champions who continue to invest in responsible tourism for Bali.

Eco Tourism Bali remains committed to strengthening partnerships, aligning with global sustainability frameworks, and building a resilient tourism future for the island.

Together, we are shaping Bali as a sustainable and climate-friendly destination.
