Eco Tourism Bali Kick-Off Training: Empowering Hospitality for a Sustainable Future

One of the key steps in transforming Bali into a sustainable tourism destination is equipping hospitality professionals with the right knowledge and skills. From hotel staff to department heads, ensuring everyone has a shared understanding of sustainability is crucial to successfully implementing eco-friendly practices within the industry.

To support this mission, Eco Tourism Bali launched the “Sustainability in Hospitality Training: Pathway to Achieve the Future of Excellence in Hospitality” at the Indonesia Tourism Information Center, Kuta, Bali. The training was designed to enhance participants’ expertise in sustainability, offering practical tools and strategies to integrate sustainable practices into their daily operations.

Kick-Off Training Sessions: February 7-8 & February 21-22

On February 7 & 8, 2025, Eco Tourism Bali successfully conducted the first session of the training, targeting both management and operational staff. The goal was to enhance knowledge and skills essential for successful sustainability implementation within accommodations.

Day 1: Leading Sustainable Change with Practical Knowledge for Management Success

Led by Dinda Hervi, the first session targeted hotel management at the managerial and supervisor levels. This knowledge-rich session provided in-depth insights into sustainability guidelines, ensuring that managers could effectively lead their teams towards more sustainable practices. Additionally, participants were introduced to the Detailed Guidelines—an essential resource for those interested in Eco Climate Badge certification—to better understand its benefits and application process.

Day 2: Shifting Perspectives Towards a Greener Hospitality

Guided by Jeff Kristianto, the second day focused on operational staff, encouraging engagement and collaboration to build a culture of sustainability in hotel operations. The session included interactive games, making learning fun while reinforcing sustainability awareness and teamwork. The training welcomed 42 hoteliers and hospitality professionals, eager to adopt and implement eco-friendly practices in their respective accommodations.

Following the success of the first session, Eco Tourism Bali conducted the Kick-Off Training Trial on February 21 & 22, 2025, with a focus on Mastering Resource Efficiency: Skills and Strategies for Sustainable Growth, again led by Jeff Kristianto. This advanced two-day training was specifically designed for department heads, aiming to deepen their understanding of business optimization through resource efficiency and circular economy practices. In addition to theoretical discussions, participants took part in engaging games and activities, making the learning process interactive, memorable, and practical.

The training welcomed 20 participants, including trainers and representatives from leading hospitality establishments, such as Aksari Ubud, Bali Beach Glamping, IniVie Hospitality, Djiwa Sanctuary, Bamboo Turtle Ecolodge, and Apurva Kempinski.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants for their enthusiasm and active engagement. We hope that the valuable insights gained during the training will be applied in their accommodations, bringing us closer to our goal of making Bali a fully sustainable tourist destination by 2030.
